my cell phone bill is astronomical. with this month’s charges, the total reached approximately $570, including $440 something that is ‘due immediately’. i gave them what i could, but needless to say i’m presently without connection and feeling really strange about it. that isn’t to say that i have stopped carrying my phone around, because i totally haven’t. it’s filling its purpose as the familiar weight in my pocket; it still serves as a functional ‘bubble breaker’ game device; it has all my phone contacts in it, allowing me to be able to have my friends call the people i need to get in touch with on my behalf. it’s like having a dozen secretaries, minus the coffee delivery service.
i guess my point is: it’s a really tough thing to get used to. having to iron out specifics on meeting times and places with friends, and writing down directions before i leave the house – i feel like i’m in 1997. i feel like finding about new music by getting the new SPIN mag. those were the days.
thankfully my mom is bailing me out (thanks mom!), otherwise the mess was going to have to continue for almost half of the month of november. tomorrow, when i pay the bill and hopefully discard the shackles of bell’s imposed limitations, i’ll be back in the game. rest easy – the joke texts are on their way.
